You have to use a Souls-like strategy of one on one or small group of enemies at a time to deal with the hoards of demons. Sometimes combat is intense. Use the block out of the way card in those situations. Overall the game it’s pretty forgiving. Devs put love on this game and it shows! Great game!

Book of Demons takes Diablo's addictive gameplay (and visual style, music, story… and many more), and embellishes it with a set of cards that act as the abilities of your heroes. Thing Trunk's gem isn't a flawless one, sure, and the transition to the Switch removes one of its key components, which is the mouse, but this remains a pretty neat… err, card 'n' slasher that needs to be in the Switch library of every ARPG fan.

Sounds like your typical RPG, well it's not. Let's start with the graphics, as those are unique and impressive. The game is designed to look like papercraft and does a good job doing that. The animations are lost, as some of it's jumpy, and the rest of it's smooth as silk. The ambient Sound is perfectly blended with the subtle music, the ambiance is perfect. The gameplay is also unique, each dungeon you delve into is set on a difficulty that determines how long each part of the dungeon should take you, and the systems learn how you play and that time becomes more and more accurate as you play. The gameplay is simple, yet challenging. You follow along a path, it does branch so it's not a railroad per se. You will face enemies along the way, and you attack by aiming your cursor to auto-attack and hold A to speed the attacks up. and you interact with X, while B allows you to break shields. This system is part of the challenge of the game. The deeper you go the harder it gets. Book of Demons is a fun and unique take on the genre and was a pleasant surprise. Most RPG fans should love this title!
