Comandantes, ¡reunan sus ejércitos! CHECK vs. MATE pide un plumero interactivo, fletando el exitoso principio del juego de ajedrez al mundo multimedia actual. Figuras animadas de fantasía se reúnen en mundos mágicos y esperan tus órdenes! Como comandante, ejecuta hábiles maniobras en el tablero de juego y catapúltate directamente a la batalla con devastadores ataques, ajedrez contra ajedrez.
Después de una demanda de 2012 de Interplay Entertainment por infracción de la propiedad intelectual, "Ajedrez de batalla" contra "Ajedrez de batalla", el juego y sus DLCs/Ediciones fueron rebautizados como Jaque vs. Mate y lanzados digitalmente en Norteamérica.
Aunque el contenido es el mismo, el juego recibió un segundo listado en Steam para el nuevo título, ya que Battle vs. Chess tiene cartas de intercambio de Steam no vinculadas al título de NA.
Esto también llevó a que hubiera diferencias de claves de Steam en las tiendas online para el juego y sus DLCs/Ediciones, lo que causó algunos problemas en su momento.

Check vs. Mate could have been very good if the developers hadn't been lazy with character animations, or if someone had taken the time to write a legitimate story.

Check vs. Mate is a good game to check out if you enjoy playing combat/strategic style games that make you think and leave you upset when the computer beats you.
