I love all of those things in games, but Lost Ember just didn't click for me. I'm glad I got this on sale and not full price.It really just isn't worth your time to explore the large world here- there are some collectibles, but nothing of interest (besides a few easter egg nods at other games). There are a lot of invisible walls and small ledges to get stuck on and the frame rate drops are REALLY bad in some instances- so much so that I thought the game had completely froze a few times. None of the animals were particularly fun to control, either, except possibly the fish. I played the game with commentary turned off, but was able to follow the story reasonably well. I still just didn't find it very interesting or emotional, though I can tell that's what they were going for.I understand that this is an indie game with a small team, but if you're looking for a better experience, I recommend Spirit of the North, with it's far superior soundtrack, puzzles, and a couple unlockables.

Multiple times I fell through the floor or a fall and had to reload to get back into the game. But all in all I really enjoyed it. The gameplay is mainly exploration and then transforming into different animals to traverse the environments which was really fun. I think its too expensive, full price is $30 on switch, but if you can get it on sale its worth the pick up if you don't mind some performance issues.

Lost Ember can be quite a relaxing experience, one where players willenjoy the benefits of a beautiful audiovisual world under the form ofdifferent animals, and sometimes it's even possible to simply put thegame's goal aside and just enjoy free roaming. While the gamedemonstrates some signs of a technical downgrade from its conversion tothe Nintendo Switch format and the loading times can get a bit long,Lost Ember is a marvelous, enveloping and relaxing experience that wouldfit good in anyone's Nintendo Switch.

Overall, Lost Ember isn’t a terrible game; it does, however, strive to be profound and ultimately is not quite so. The narrative is ambitious but never strays from the beaten path. Navigation is problematic and leaves players lost when it shouldn’t. Performance is also far from optimized for Switch. While the body swapping and visual design are solid, the former is let down by linear traversal and the latter isn’t enough to make up for the other flaws. Hopefully a patch will come along to tackle some of these problems, but in the meantime consider Lost Ember if you’re willing to put up with a number of different issues.

I enjoyed every moment of Lost Ember, and when I stopped playing, I just wanted to get back in the game and wander around more and find more of the memories. The way the wolf and ember’s stories interweave is also touching and drew me into the world. It’s only about 6 hours long, depending on how much time is spent exploring, but it’s a great focused adventure game.

The story is solid but it's not really my cup of tea - I prefer the fun of the gameplay and the vast level hubs with its beautiful vegetation. After their debut mobile game, Lost Ember is a big step in the development of this young team.

Since the first "official" announcement at Gamescom 2016 I was curious about Lost Ember. The premise with the animals and the fallen civilization as well as the appealing look quickly made sure that I was excited about the title. In the end Lost Ember is a lot of what I had hoped for. Calm, emotional, visually stunning and ... simply beautiful! It's a lot of fun to glide over the wonderful landscapes and put the game world and its secrets to the acid test. The only pity is that it really doesn't have much to offer. The story is really good, but apart from that Lost Ember offers quite little. Unfortunately, the found objects are hardly motivating. Nonetheless, Lost Ember manages to create a lot of significant moments, that I will surely remember for a long time.

Add to this the various bugs we encountered during play, and Lost Ember becomes a fairly hard sell. We got stuck on geometry a couple of times, and had to reset the game more than once. At one point, some animals failed to spawn, which meant we couldn't progress without reloading the checkpoint. These rough edges don't help a game that's already a little threadbare. Unless you're curious about the narrative, we'd beware of the dog in this case.

I was tearing up several times because of the joy seeing this beautiful world and sometime because I felt with the main characters in the game.This game is different: there is no fighting, there is no time limit, there is are no super skills needed to finish it. It invites you to explore, to enjoy the fantastic music and to let it all sink in. I've spent more than 10 hours into it, and although I was done with the main story a few hours ago, I'm still coming back, trying to find just everything. This is an experience you shouldn't miss! Btw: I never experienced any crash or freeze while playing on my PS4.

The hard-hitting emotional narrative, beautiful score and pleasant visuals were just enough to drag me through a game that was at times, not fun to play. Technical issues ranging from freezing to death loops soured what could have been a very fun and touching exploration game. I did enjoy my time with it but the issues I had did take a few points off the overall score. Perhaps wait for an update before purchasing.

I can’t speak for other versions but the PS4 edition does have some minor graphical issues/rough spots (slow processing when playing as the bison, clipping through walls at points, etc.) but on the whole the design, animations, color, textures, and overall feel of this game are outstanding.-The sound design and music are incredible. Unequivocally beautiful. I watched the trailer 7 times because of the music, and what’s in the game itself is great as well.-While the story does leave a tad bit to be desired (no spoilers here), it is well told and the voice acting does exactly what it needs to do to bring everything together.-In summary, buy this game. It’s worth it.-
