And that's the sole but major problem of this game. In Overcooked you have to make various meals based on different recipes while being pushed by time and equipment limits whereas in Moving Out you just move all object from a house to the truck and that's it. There's literally no need to think since the game doesn't give you any other challenge nor it penalizes you for damaging properties.To compare the experience with some similar games, it's if Overcooked had just one recipe consisted of only one ingredient throughout the whole game or as if "Papers, please" had just one information to verify.This game may have nice artstyle, animations, interesting heavily sarcastic humour or good transwhite pedophile bootleg music but the game is one huge chore to play and it's repetitive since the very first level.I guess this game falls into the "games to play with your girlfriend" category.

Moving Out is a joyous experience. The chaos is ever-present, but the chill approach ensures that everyone is having a good time instead of gradually wanting to tear each other apart. The number of levels is just right, and the presentation is appealing. It serves as a perfect complement to other co-op titles and belongs in the library of anyone who enjoys the genre.

Easier said than done, since the physics and controls deliberately test your mental resilience.You'll probably want to high five your partner as many times as you want to wring their necks, since there's a high likelihood that you’ll be questioning why they went left instead of *obviously* moving right, just as much as they’ll be questioning your navigational sensibilities since you went right instead of left. Communication is key in these types of games, not just mentally projecting what your partner should *obviously* be able to read from your mind. You can’t do it all on your own, so Moving Out does a good job of making the key cooperative aspect fun and challenging.However, the satisfaction of the core gameplay loop is still a bit lacking when comparing a moving company to cooking. The rush and sense of achievement you get in Overcooked when you eventually improve to an army drill-like sense of teamwork and precision after cooking a ridiculously complex meal is powerful, while navigating a couch around a corner successfully just feels expected.Overall, the game features great, fun and cartoony graphics and a large amount of content, with a good sense of humour and a perfect, light escapist tone in these trying current times.Just don’t throw your controller at the wall in frustration. However you could download Parsec which allows you to host the game and your friends can join as if they are local, or if you have it on Steam you could use Steam Remote Play Together. Me and the wife recently discovered playing the Overcooked games together. So when I saw this come to gamepass we had to try it and it's really fun.It's no where near as good as Overcooked and the actual co-opness of Moving Out is probably not as needed as it is in OC, if anything it makes it a bit harder as some items of furniture require two people, but in single player they don't so in that respect it's easier in single player. But I suppose it's alot less on your own too. It's also short compared to OC (only took a few hours to complete the base game).But basically, play it with a friend and you should enjoy yourself for 3ish hours.

Moving Out is a light-hearted approach to the art of furniture removal, and with the cute visuals, hilarious dialogue and story, and simple control scheme, Moving Out is a game that is accessible for anyone. The bonus level achievements and the Gold Medal collection will mean that each level has a certain amount of replayability as gamers chase down each of the achievements on offer. And with up to four players locally, the whole family can get into the fun-filled action (especially during a period of isolation). Moving furniture has never been so entertaining.

As an avid fan of the Overcooked series I am more than happy to see some additional representatives of the Couch coop genre – especially if they are as well-made as Moving Out.

The goal is simple, the controls are simple enough, and everything breaks or reacts to your actions. This means simple chaotic fun. It’s very easy to enjoy this alone or with a group of friends. The gameplay is executed well enough to be a fun casual game for all.Now here’s the first thing you might not have totally guessed: this game is funnier than Overcooked. The overall vibe of this game deserves praise for its execution of its vibe. It’s very 80s, very ridiculously upbeat yet destruction heavy, and very aware of all of the above. For example, in the first level the characters are super happy about the “backbreaking” work they’re about to do. And despite “The Boss” sounding like an awful person, they seem to think he’s amazing. Underscoring all of this is happy 80s music written by a famous 80s songwriter (seriously). So where Overcooked had a quiet charm, this game has a more ridiculous charm to it. And I think it’s brilliantly executed.There’s one major flaw to this game though - beyond not having online play, which I don’t really care about - and it only shows itself when you try earning Gold on a level. The game’s physics and animations can seemingly randomly get in your way. When I earned Gold on a level, it wasn’t just because I got better at the game. It was because the physics worked in my favor. For example, when I was dragging the fridge onto the truck it took a favorable bounce and tucked itself neatly in between a table and couch. And when I went to grab a coffee table on this particular run, the front door didn’t swing open and slam shut on my arms. Because of it did, the coffee table would be stuck on the other side, propping it shut, and I would have to run around the house to continue the job. And those few seconds are all it takes to ruin your chances of getting Gold. In Overcooked, I would devise a strategy and continually tweak it until I earned Gold. And when I did, it felt like I was in control of everything. But in Moving Out I feel like I got lucky and, if I played the same stage again, I couldn’t guarantee my next run would be Gold-worthy. Too many little things would come down to chance, adding on 10 seconds to my run. My solutions? For one, they should let players use the whack button to knock down doors, removing the obstacle that causes so much frustration.Minus the disappointing issue above, this is a great game. The appeal is obvious. Almost anyone can pick it up and play it immediately. As long as you don’t take it too seriously (and this is anything but a serious game), you’ll have a blast. If you have enough interest to read this far, I’m sure it’s a game you’ll enjoy.

You can adjust difficulty in many ways to help you work thru the more difficult levels. While this feature does make it easier to move past some of the trickier levels, it doesn’t ultimately change the fact that moving furniture in Moving Out isn’t much more fun as helping a family member or friend move in real life. Some of the games mechanics seem to be simply led to chance based on the games mechanics that aren’t as refined as they could be. This isn’t a bad game but definitely packs in plenty of frustrating moments and "what in the world was that" moments. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as every time I’ve helped someone move there are plenty those moments and you save the busted up hands and sore body the next day. There’s plenty of obstacles to make your task more challenging to include ghosts, flamethrowers, and rising pools of guava that prove to be far from the biggest obstacles to your success. As a fan of most of the games published by Team 17 this one doesn’t quite reach the mark of the majority of their titles and sadly left me wanting more. I did happen to enjoy the homage to the “Frogger” levels, as I typically appreciate a nod to any classic game in a new creation of today. While I didn’t personally find the game overly exciting I would encourage fans of the overcooked franchise to at least give this one a go, as you should be more at home here with a few exceptions. I love the presentation of Moving Out and the bright colorful visuals and to credit the development team they did just about all anyone probably could do to make moving as fun of an experience in a gaming way possible. If you’re on the fence with this one maybe wait for a sale, I also had limited talent on my “moving team” during my review time with Moving Out, which is usually the case in a real life move and this could have added to my “what the” moments along the way.

Ultimately, this game is not as fantastic as its inspiration, but it’s still absolutely worth your time. Like Overcooked, the magic of Moving Out is in full completion. Going for the accolades of gold medals and challenge completions requires strategy and coordination that demonstrates the full potential of the game’s chaotic cooperative play. If you just walk on through collecting bronze medals, you’ll still have a solid time tossing beds and getting in slap fights, but you’ll also be robbing yourself of the game’s true strategic depth that nearly rivals the best of its genre.

It's a lot of fun causing chaos with friends – throwing toasters through windows or trying to balance that last lampshade on the back of an over-stocked removal truck – but it's just not resonant enough as a co-operative experience to stick in your mind. A very good effort, but in our view, just too slight to be a lasting classic.
